If you're a casual gamer, I'm a monkey's uncle!

Since Silksong came out, I've been spending more time reading opinions of it than actually playing it! There's something fascinating about people bickering over a game's difficulty.

Casual Gamer This Dark Souls game is so much easier than Silksong!

Are you a casual gamer?

In a post I read today, someone had written this gem:

"I would consider myself as a casual gamer, although I love all FromSoft games like the Dark Souls trilogy, Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne. I made a Platinum trophy in ALL of their games."

Now, I'm no expert on the definition of "casual gamer", but I don't think anyone who has gotten all the achievements in six different FromSoftware games could ever be considered a casual player.

This proclamation was used to demonstrate just how difficult Silksong is, as it was quickly followed by "But Silksong is really testing my patience."

What would a real casual gamer play?

I asked ChatGPT and wasn't surprised that mobile games topped the list, namely Candy Crush and Gardenscapes. Casual games on Steam include Stardew Valley and Slime Rancher.

Our friendly AI suggests that casual games are "easy to learn, relaxing to play, and enjoyable in short sessions without demanding skill or commitment."

Not really how I'd describe Dark Souls, and certainly not Silksong!
