The farmer sold a lot of copies!

Programming and automation game, The Farmer Was Replaced, was one of the most surprisng games I came across this year, and it turned out to be a smash hit!

The Farmer Was Replaced My farm working round the clock, pumping out those pumpkins!

400,000 copies sold since launch

In just the first few days after its October 10th release, it had sold 100,000 copies, and quadrupled that by early November. And those sales have translated into 95% overwhelmingly positive reviews.

What's so good about it?

The Farmer has you use a Python-like language to program drones by hand to plant and harvest crops. The UI is very good and the docs are clear enough for beginners to follow. What makes it really fun though is that each crop has its own requirememnts and benefits. For example, a pumpkin needs carrots to grow and has a 20% chance of dying before it's full grown. If it survives, it can merge with neighbouring pumpkins to make mega pumpkins with a much higher yield.

On top of that, it has a skill tree with a whole bunch of unlocks to aim for. I unlocked all but the grindiest few in just under 30 hours.

At this rate, The Farmer Will Be Replaced will sell half a million copies by Christmas, I'm sure. I wonder though, will you be picking it up?
